MMA

Our classes are for all abilities and are a great way to improve your overall MMA skills or learn something fun and new. We will teach you the wrestling, submission, as well as the ground & pound techniques needed to improve and advance your MMA skill set.

What is MMA?

MMA stands for Mixed Martial Arts and has become a combination of different styles based on what’s most effective for competition. That means no posturing, effective moves and a big emphasis on striking and grappling. Classes may be split into different disciplines and popular disciplines include Muay Thai (Thai kickboxing), Brazilian jiu-jitsu, boxing and wrestling.

What do you do in MMA Classes?

MMA is diverse but a striking class might involve shadow boxing to sharpen your form, along with time on the punch bag to improve your striking and kick-pad work for leg strikes. With a wrestling class, you can expect to learn and practise new techniques every lesson, changing partners regularly.

What do I need to bring to MMA Sessions?

You’ll need a change of clothes and a towel, as well as some water so you can stay hydrated during your workout. If you’re up for sparring you might want to bring a gumshield and even some padded shin pads. Wrist wraps are always a good idea to protect your wrists against impact.

What to wear to MMA Class

You might want to bring a gi if you’re going to a jiu-jitsu class, or a wrestling singlet for wrestling classes, although those classes also have sessions where neither are needed. Otherwise, you’re probably good with a loose t-shirt and shorts or joggers.
